In 2019, my dad and I travelled to Yabuli Ski Resort, Heilongjiang in China. The skies were blue and the jagged mountains were covered with blankets of snow. We were skiing happily for the first six days. Until the last day of the trip, something horrible happened.
I slowly got off the bright red cable car and made my way to the edge of the steep slope. I launched my self towards the cliff like a roller coaster. Skiing is an exhilarating activity but I can only experience it once a year. For people who have never skied before, it’s like being on a jet ski on a slope.
Unknowingly, we skied into the wrong direction, and we accidently stumbled into a slope that was not pressed well. Suddenly I sunk into the snow and my equipment popped off my feet, and I got stuck inside a 0.5 meter deep pocket of snow. I struggled and desperately tried to get myself out and started to roll down and forgetting about my equipment.
I panicked and cried out loud. Thankfully my dad was there to help me calm down. After 30 minutes, a snow ski appeared and zoomed toward us and rescued us back to our hotel. I was extremely relived that I wouldn’t need to freeze to death in an empty slope.
If someone ask me would I still go back? I will answer: Yeah, but maybe not ski with my dad so I won’t freeze to death anymore 😂🐱🏍🐱💻.
