Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? When people succeed, it is entirely because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with their success. Use specific reasons and examples to explain your position.
It is critically important that we work hard and have some luck in our lives to succeed in school and work. I believe success is a combination of luck and hard work. I feel this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, some people are already in a lucky position in life, which makes success much easier to achieve. Perhaps their parents are very rich and famous already, which means they can have a head start in whatever occupation or industry they want to do. Also, people can be born with natural talents in academics, sports, music, or arts. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. At a basketball tournament, I once met another player who was six feet tall. He was an excellent player because he had the advantage of height to be more successful in basketball than the other kids.
Furthermore, people might achieve success through luck by having the perfect timing. Even if people work hard, they still won’t be successful if what they chose to do is not popular or trending at that time. For instance, a YouTuber that is playing a game that is not popular in the world won’t get many views for his/her videos. However, a you-tuber playing a game that is very popular in the world will get a lot of success.
In conclusion, I strongly feel that luck has some use in our lives, not just hard work. This is because people might be born with natural talent and might have done something that was already trending at the time.
