Michael Jordan: A Success Story

Michael Jordan dunk

Unless you have been living under a rock, you must have heard of Michael Jordan or of his internationally famous Air Jordan's from Nike. His greatest achievements are: 6 NBA championship, 2 Olympic Gold Medals, 5 Most Valuable Player awards and played on 14 All-Star teams. Throughout his career he mostly played for the Chicago Bulls.

Michael Jeffery Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York, on 17 of February, 1963. His family moved to north Carolina. He grew up playing baseball, football, and basketball. You might be surprised to know that he was very short when he was a kid. However when he was around sixteen he already 170 cm tall! A year later he shot up to 198cm tall!

In 1984, Michael Jordan finally made it to the NBA. He was picked by the Chicago Bulls to be the center. In the same year he was one of the twelve people to join the basketball Olympics. Michael Jordan won a gold medal for America by beating Spain. This is probably the luckiest and the most exciting year of his life.

In the NBA, Chicago Bulls agreed to pay 6 million USD to Michael Jordan to play for them for 7 years. He was only 21 years old. Nike sponsored Michael to create the Air Jordan’s sneakers around the same time for 2.5 million USD for 5 years. He would become one of the most successful basketball player in the world.

He has become a legend and even broke the longest dunk record: 14 feet. In my opinion, he is very inspirational, very impressed by his skills, and I want to be a basketball player like him when I grow up.
