5. Bridge to Terabithia — Katherine Paterson
This is a story about Jesse Aarons Jr. and his friend, Leslie Burke. The two of them constructed a fantasy place called Terabithia and Lark Creek in their imaginations. They also share a puppy and named it Prince Terrien. In the story, Jesse really wanted to be the fastest runner in his grade. He worked very hard and practiced every day, eventually becoming the fastest runner in the school.
I recommend this book to kids 9 and above, because it has interesting stories, funny pranks and great jokes.

4. The Treehouse series — Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton
The Treehouse series follows the insane adventures of Andy and Terry, two preteens who escaped their mean families, met one another and eventually built a 130-storey treehouse together. Andy is the author and Terry is the illustrator. Their books are an autobiography of their crazy and outrageous lives.
I recommend this book to 10–12 year old preteens because it is funny, imaginative, and filled with out-of-the-world ideas.
