It is critically important that we have zoos in order to educate people, conserve animals, and promote tourism. This is because of three reasons which I will explore in further detail in my essay.
First, zoos are important because it can educate people about wildlife. It will encourage people to care more about the environment and animal rights. For instance, I once went to a zoo and I was fascinated with the amount of wildlife in the zoo, as I have never seen one in my city, Hong Kong. This experience made me care more about the wildlife and inspired me to become a zoologist.
Secondly, zoos help with conserving wildlife by taking care of animals that are in captivity. For example, in the past pandas were once endangered in China, and zoos took care of them. They bred them in captivity and took great care of them. Now they are not endangered anymore.
Finally, zoos can increase the tourism in a country. Tourism can also benefit the government as they can earn lots of money from people, it can also provide more jobs for people in the country. For example, Steve Irwin’s zoo is the biggest and most popular zoo in Australia, some people come to Australia just to visit this attraction.
In conclusion, zoos are very beneficial to everyone. This is because they can help educate people about wildlife, conserve biodiversity, and help increase the tourism of a country.
